This presentation will highlight the important role of Peterboro, NY, in narratives of the Abolition Movement in the US and particularly New York State’s role, with a focus on upstate NY.

Dr. Sernett is Professor Emeritus of African American Studies and History at Syracuse University. He is a founding member of the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum and a member of the Cabinet of Freedom.
