In this presentation, Ellie Citron will provide a brief history of how Black women, enslaved or free after the Civil War, have historically been discriminated against in medical practice. She will focus her case study in Virginia as an illustrative example of the kinds of discrimination Black women have faced at the hands of medical practitioners.
