Become a Sponsor

Please consider becoming a major sponsor of the inaugural CNY Abolitionist Freedom Walk to be held on October 23, 2022 in Canastota, New York.

We hope you will want to become a part of this celebration of unity, created with the help of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, and help to shine a bright light on the following pivotal moment in local history that dramatically changed the abolitionist movement in America.

Walkers will trace a portion of the footsteps of the 104 brave souls, who in 1835, escaped an angry mob of anti-abolitionists in Utica, embarked on an Erie Canal lumber barge to Canastota and, while singing freedom songs, climbed the trail to Peterboro where they formed the New York State Anti-Slavery Society.
